  1. Couldn’t agree more. Having been involved in numerous category management and joint business planning initiatives one of the last criteria considered (if at all) is the shopper. What’s more, what impact it will have on one’s most lucrative shoppers where 20% of them can account for 80% of total sales?.

  2. I agree with a lot of what is being said. One thing the article didn’t cover is that perhaps Walgreens is afraid of the product turning so low most of it ends up spoiling out rather than being sold.

  3. Fair challenge, Mark. I would hope that additional criteria like that are being used… so long as it’s also balanced with the shopper’s needs. If there is a challenge on spoilage before product turns, then that’s definitely an issue for Earth’s Best to work on to help retailers.
